Situated 160 kilometres northeast of Bloemfontein, the Central University of Technology Welkom Campus is strategically located in the hub of the Free State gold fields. As an evolving and dynamic part of the university, the campus is deeply embedded in a thriving regional industry, offering unique opportunities for applied learning, research, and community engagement.
Recognising that not all students have the privilege of studying at the main campus on a full-time basis, CUT offers a carefully selected range of high-quality learning programmes at the Welkom Campus. Our commitment is to provide accessible, future-focused education that advances student success and regional development.

One Institution, Two Campuses
To ensure quality of education and support, CUT operates as a single, integrated institution. While the Welkom Campus boasts its own unique identity, dedicated local facilities, and campus leadership, many of our specialised academic and administrative functions are seamlessly shared across both campuses. This unified approach guarantees that Welkom students have full, equitable access to the same expert resources, digital platforms, and institutional support as their peers in Bloemfontein, without unnecessary duplication of services.
