The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) is the foremost higher education institution in the heartland of South Africa. The main seat of the University is situated in Bloemfontein, the judicial capital of South Africa, with a second campus located in Welkom.

Originally opening its doors in 1981 as the Technikon Free State, the institution has grown exponentially. Following the national restructuring of the higher education landscape in 2004, CUT embraced its new status as a University of Technology (UoT). Today, the Bloemfontein Campus is a vibrant, dynamic hub offering world-class education in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), management sciences, humanities, and education.

New Academic Facilities

The completion of world-class Jewellery and Sculpting Studios in the Faculty of Humanities, providing students with state-of-the-art creative spaces.

Expanded Residences

New student residences have added 126 beds, bringing the university's total on-campus accommodation to approximately 1,500 beds, enhancing the student living experience.
