The Office of Special Projects plays a pivotal role in driving institutional transformation, academic development, and strategic initiatives within the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT). We manage high-impact projects, ensure compliance with national frameworks, and foster an environment of continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Our Core Portfolio Areas
DHET Project Management and Reporting
- Manage and monitor Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) projects, including the University Capacity Development Programme/Grant (UCDP/G), the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), and the Nurturing Emerging Scholars Programme (NESP).
- Support UCDG Project leaders with the development and execution of their implementation plans.
- Compile DHET annual reports and attend CREST-DHET training on Management Information Systems (MIS) for UCDG project reporting.
- Organise UCDP/G Advisory Committee meetings to review project progress, report on impact, outline future plans, and gather stakeholder feedback for continuous service improvement.
Academic Staff Development
- Provide dedicated support to academic staff members enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDip HE).
- Collaborate with Teaching and Learning Coordinators to promote and facilitate Industry Exposure opportunities for academics.
- Coordinate research on teaching development projects to continuously enhance pedagogical practices and learning outcomes.
Student Success and Institutional Initiatives
- Coordinate the comprehensive student orientation programme to ensure a smooth transition for new students.
- Drive and coordinate the institutional Graduate Attributes project, ensuring alignment and integration across all academic faculties.
CILT Unit Management and Coordination
- Manage and oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the Writing Centre.
- Produce the comprehensive annual report for the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT).
- Organise the annual CILT Conference to showcase innovation, share best practices, and foster academic collaboration.
- Coordinate policy analysis and implementation related to teaching, learning, and academic development.
