                                        Additional Admission Requirements
                                         A potential candidate must have a master’s degree at NQF level 9 in a related field. Admission to the programme will be subject to a review process and availability of supervisors. Candidates must have a 65% average for the NQF level 9 qualification. Candidates must apply the year before the intended study and must register annually until Assessment and Graduation Unit confirm the qualification has been achieved. A part-time student is any person who is holding a position at a place of work. Except with the special permission of Senate, no candidate may be registered for any postgraduate degree for a period exceeding a residency period [4 years for full time students and 6 years for part time students]  |

The purpose of this qualification is to develop research competence in candidates in order to make a significant contribution in their specialization and contribute to innovative and novel research. This is a research-based qualification and candidates are required to write and present a research protocol to be defended to a panel of specialists. After completion of the research the candidate is required to write a thesis that will be examined by external assessors.
