Additional Admission Requirements
A potential candidate must have a postgraduate diploma or an honors degree at NQF level 8 in a related field. Admission to the programme will be subject to a review process and availability of supervisors. Candidates must have a 60% average for the NQF level 8 qualification. The student must have passed Research Methodology with a minimum of 60%. Candidates must apply the year before the intended study and must register annually until Assessment and Graduation Unit confirm the qualification has been achieved. A part-time student is any person who is holding a position at a place of work. Except with the special permission of Senate, no candidate may be registered for any postgraduate degree for a period exceeding a residency period [four years]. |
The purpose of this qualification is to develop research competence in candidates in order to make a significant contribution in their specialization. This is a research-based qualification and candidates are required to write and present a research protocol to be defended to a panel of specialists. After completion of the research the candidate is required to write a dissertation that will be examined by external assessors.
