Additional Admission Requirements

Admission requirements

  • Any recognised 360-credit (NQF level 6) qualification or higher. 
  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL) (conditions apply).
  • Minimum three years working experience (work-integrated learning excluded).
  • A minimum average of 55% for final-year diploma subjects.
  • Preference is given to those working in the M&E environment.

Optional instructional offerings

  • All instructional offerings are compulsory.

Credit transfer policy

  • Credit transfer through the recognition of subjects passed at the required NQF7 level is allowed, subject to other CUT rules that include, amongst others, at least a 75% content coverage of the CUT-equivalent subject.
  • Per CUT’s RPL policy (8.2d), a maximum of 39% credit transfers can be granted to a candidate because the modules are pitched on exit level of NQF level 7.

The Advanced Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation meets the minimum entry requirements of a cognate Postgraduate Diplomas. For example, the CUT’s Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management and Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurial Management.

Career Opportunities

Monitoring and Evaluation professionals can work in a variety of organisations. Holders of CUT’s Advanced Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation qualification can work in international development agencies, government departments, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community-based organisations (CBO) as programme managers, policymakers, programme implementers, development practitioners, activists. The program is also helpful to government officials and department heads.

The primary objective of the Advanced Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is to equip learners from a variety of sectors with the knowledge and skills to successfully plan, implement and manage monitoring and evaluation systems from initiation to close-out.

The hands-on program presents practical steps, examples, and exercises in applying M&E concepts and tools. All concepts and tools will be applied by working groups in an integrative manner by the participants to plan, monitor and evaluate their interventions and what they achieve to be accountable and improve performance.
