Additional Admission Requirements
The minimum admission requirement for the Advanced Diploma in Language Practice is a National Diploma in Language Practice or a Diploma in Language Practice and Media Studies at NQF Level 6 or an equivalent thereof in related fields of study. A minimum of 60% must have been obtained in the Diploma (Language Practice/Communication/Media) for admission to the Advanced Diploma in Language Practice. Prospective candidates will be subjected to a selection test. The best 30 candidates will be selected based on their previous academic record as well as the selection test (the academic records of previous qualifications and the selection test results will be taken into consideration). |

The primary purpose of an Advanced Diploma in Language Practice is to provide entry-level vocational or professional preparation or specialisation for a bachelor’s degree graduates or diplomates by offering intensive, focused and applied specialisation in Language Practice, which meets the requirements of a specific niche in the labour market. This qualification also prepares students for postgraduate study, through deepening their knowledge and understanding of theories, methodologies and practices in Language Practice.
The Advanced Diploma in Language Practice serves to enhance the skills of Language Practitioners, serve as a means of further professional development, deepen their existing knowledge regarding theoretical and practice-related problems, and understand theories and practices in a language context. This qualification will also prepare students for postgraduate study in Language Practice. These students will be able to resolve complex problems by utilising appropriate methods and techniques in Language Practice.
