The main purpose of this qualification is to develop research competence in students so that they can make a significant academic contribution in their disciplines or fields, that is, Language Practice. A great deal of emphasis is placed on self-directed reading and scientific enquiry. This is a research-based qualification and students are required to write a dissertation.
