Programme-Specific Requirements

Minimum Prior Qualification

An Advanced Diploma in Language Practice, a Bachelor’s degree in Language Practice/Communication, or a B.Tech evaluated at NQF Level 7 (360 credits, or 120 credits for a B.Tech) in a related field of study.

Required Academic Performance & Prerequisites

  • A minimum of 60% must be obtained in the prior NQF Level 7 qualification.
  • Completed Prerequisites: Advanced Language and Translation Studies IV, Introduction to Research Methods, Creative Writing I, Culture and Media I, and ONE of the following: English IV, Afrikaans IV, Sesotho IV, isiXhosa IV, Setswana IV, French IV, or German IV.

Selection Process & Additional Requirements

Selection Process

Due to a limited number of students that can be accommodated in this programme, achieving the compulsory minimum average of 60% at the Advanced Diploma or degree level is strictly required for selection.

Duration & Award

After successful completion of this qualification, the Postgraduate Diploma in Language Practice will be awarded during an official graduation ceremony of CUT.
