CUT cycle club member riding his bicycle from Johannesburg to Cape Town for kids without school shoes

Olebogeng Kgengwe, a Cycle Club member of the Central University of Technology team arrived at Northridge Mall on 24 May 2022 from Johannesburg. He is en route to Cape Town.
Olebogeng is an avid cyclist. He said he has long craved an opportunity to do something meaningful with his love for cycling to support needy children. Thus, he started an arduous journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town to reach his dream. He is halfway through the 1 600km challenge to get 1 600 pairs of school shoes for needy learners. He has undertaken this challenge to raise much-needed funding and awareness for A-School-Shoe Drive.
"I was inspired to start this project when I once saw a child being chased away from school because they were wearing tekkies and not formal school shoes. I'm motivated, as I dream of seeing every child getting an equal education this winter season while changing the lives of children from poor backgrounds."
This long adventure is the first time the CUT cycle team has cycled. For Olebogeng, he said it would not be easy; he has done a lot of cycling in the past. However, he is ready to embrace the challenge so that he can make a difference, however small it may seem.
Although he plans to arrive in Cape Town on Saturday, expected heavy rains on the way might conspire against his good intentions. As a result, he needs our support to achieve his dream.
