Central University of Technology Accounting Students Organisation (CUTASO) serves as an academic structure for all the Department of Accounting and Auditing students of CUT, Welkom campus. Our role is to benefit the students pursuing a career in the profession in that their participation will ensure that they gain exposure to various industry stakeholders and start to build networks.
Throughout the journey CUTASO aims to have regular consultation and engagement by means of hosting prestige lectures delivered by experts. Engagement activities includes the yearly participation in the JSE investment challenge, CIMA competition, ACCA lecture, ICB lecture, SAIPA lecture, liaison with the Internal Auditing Students Association and SASOL sponsorship Furthermore outside engagement like community outreach programs and teaching assistance to secondary schools are top priority .
CUTASO’s vision is to ensure that CUT, Welkom campus attract the attention of employers across the country, in order to receive recognition in the field of Accounting and Auditing stakeholders. We aim to lay a solid foundation of Accounting and Auditing related activities to complement academic activities

- Promotes access with success in attracting high-profiles professionals and seek supports for students to become employable graduates
- Create seminars and prestige lecturer to raise awareness about the profession
- Engage with the community for mutually beneficial development
- Launch careers fairs in Secondary Schools and University
- Forges strategic partnerships with professional bodies such as SAIPA and IIA, thus to promote internship and networking opportunities
