CUT Vice-Chancelor wraps-up the Research Winter School outlining CUT’s forward-looking growth agenda grounded in academic excellence

The successful 2nd Annual Research Winter School concluded on a positive note, with the Vice‑Chancellor’s involvement underscoring CUT’s commitment to research excellence and postgraduate development.

In her presentation, Prof. Pamela Dube unpacked CUT’s forward-looking growth agenda grounded in academic excellence, innovation, and societal relevance. “Growth must be strategic, inclusive and sustainable. We must tailor-make our research to benefit and transform society,” she emphasised.

Prof. Matsolo Makhampanyane and Dr Moretlo Tlale-Mkhize formed part of researchers who attended the Research Winter School to gain invaluable knowledge.


From enhancing postgraduate support and launching flagship research projects to strengthening international partnerships, she outlined CUT’s trajectory as a student-centred University of Technology with a mission to drive innovation and equity, impacting both local and global societies.

The gathering of scholars, innovators, and institutional leaders not only showcased CUT’s academic depth, but also set a clear direction for impactful research that aligns with national priorities and global challenges.

As CUT moves forward, the Research Winter School stands as a catalyst for research that is relevant, ethical, and responsive, driven by our shared mission to think beyond.
