Ms Vuyi Njokweni, a dedicated and highly skilled professional, was recently awarded a Master of Information Technology degree during the September 2024 Spring graduation at the Central University of Technology. Her expertise in the field has been a driving force behind her academic achievements.
A proficient IT professional, Ms Vuyi Njokweni is the Business Process Manager in the Registrar’s Division. Her academic journey has equipped her with a B Com Honours in Information Systems from the University of Fort Hare, a BTech in Information Technology specialising in Computer Networks from Walter Sisulu University (WSU), and a National Diploma in Information Technology focusing on Software Development from the Eastern Cape Technikon. These credentials have enhanced her professional skills and provided a solid foundation for her career. “Besides my academic credentials, I honed my skills through various professional development programmes, including Business and Systems Analysis from the University of Stellenbosch's Executive Development Business School and courses in Strategic Information Systems Planning and Designing and Implementing Telecom Networks from UNISA,” she said.
“My master's research was not just an academic exercise. It significantly contributed to the field of Business Intelligence (BI) Systems. The focus was on ‘Assessing the fitness of BI Systems' to perform tasks at CUT. This research has enabled me to identify a gap in existing studies and propose a model that integrates task characteristics and technology characteristics within the Task-Technology Fit (TTF) framework. This model can be directly applied in real-world scenarios, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of BI Systems in various organisations,” she emphasised.
“My career in higher education has been marked by diversity. I have worked in various divisions, including ICT, and have held roles such as network technician, senior network administrator, database administrator, and business analyst.”
She joined in 2015 as a Data Manager in Institutional Planning and Quality Enhancement and has gained extensive experience in strategic vision, business excellence, and innovation through a digitalisation and automation strategy. “This diverse experience has instilled in me the confidence to handle any challenge that comes my way. As a certified IT professional, I have honed my leadership skills through the management of strategic projects. I am currently involved in a project to improve operational efficiency by mapping business processes within the Registrar’s Division using the Nintex BPM tool. As a chief data officer (CDO), I aim to lead and inspire by applying my data governance principles and strategic project management expertise to improve operational efficiency and drive positive transformations in higher education,” she concluded.
Ms Vuyi Njokweni congratulated by the Registrar, Dr Sally Dzingwa.
