FEBIT Hosts Industry Engagement Session to Strengthen Academia-Industry Collaboration

Academics and industry experts, join hands to foster collaborative teaching, knowledge sharing, and professional interaction between lecturers, employers, and industry professionals.

On 26 September 2025, the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (FEBIT) hosted an industry engagement session designed to foster collaborative teaching, knowledge sharing, and professional interaction between lecturers, employers, and industry professionals.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for the faculty to reflect on current teaching practices through direct engagement with industry stakeholders, the ultimate employers of our graduates. It also created a platform for the exchange of ideas and the strengthening of partnerships aimed at enhancing both academic and workplace practices.

In her keynote address, Professor Muthoni Masinde, Dean of the Faculty, highlighted the importance of aligning academic efforts with industry demands. “The industry component is critical to us,” she said. “That’s why our teaching incorporates work-integrated learning, with the aim of placing our students in real-world industry settings. The university and industry are interconnected, and we must work hand in hand. We are eager to continue our collaboration by placing our students with you and by responding to your calls for innovative solutions. We are ready and willing to develop those solutions with you.”

The session reaffirmed FEBIT’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also equipped with practical, industry-relevant skills. By nurturing strong partnerships with employers and professionals, the faculty ensures its programmes remain relevant in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
