CUT formally debuted the Atleha (Success) initiative, created in collaboration with the SAVILLE foundation, on July 17, 2024. The Atleha program seeks to support CUT students' learning potential and beliefs by providing them with the necessary resources, experiences, and abilities to support successful, all-around student growth.
Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Pamela Dube was ecstatic to announce the program's objective, which she said is to guide students towards a greater path in their academic journey to becoming capable, accountable, and self-aware individuals. “This will be accomplished by holding several sessions and counting the problems that our students have,” she said.
Prof. Dube also mentioned how the Kresge Foundation provided funds to support the Siyaphumulela Student Success Program, which encourages academic advancement by introducing challenging but highly effective modules. “The university's aspirational aims of expanding and strengthening its institutional ability to guarantee that the student support system is in place to effectively manage our intervention techniques that will assist academic progression are the driving force for this launch.” She added.
Professor Ntsoaki Malebo, Senior Director: Center for Innovation Learning and Teaching (CILT), said that the program will enable students to take charge of their learning journeys and foster resilience, creativity, and other leadership skills that will be guarded from the program to inspire and create a sense of ownership and active participation in the learning process. "The CUT and SAVILLE foundation's partnership will produce transformative results, giving aspiring leaders the abilities and perspective needed to prosper in a world that is changing quickly."
Ms. Kgomotso Malele of the Saville Foundation encouraged students to take advantage of the programme and be active participants for their academic success. “In order to succeed, one must overcome every obstacle that one faces.”
