CUT and Kenyan universities explore academic partnership opportunities

Mr Rulofs Makokha, First Counsellor, Prof. Pamela Dube, CUT Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Mr Adan Ibrahim, Education Attaché and Prof. Alfred Ngowi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research Innovation and Engagement.
The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) hosted a delegation from the High Commission of the Republic of Kenya to discuss possible areas of collaboration. The objective was to strengthen the bonds between the university and Kenyan universities and explore academic partnership opportunities.
This visit resulted from a reciprocal visit by a CUT delegation to esteemed higher education institutions in Kenya. Notably, the discussion surrounding integrating the Swahili language into the Department of Basic Education Curriculum in South Africa was a major outcome of these engagements. Both parties are firmly committed to this endeavour, recognising the importance of linguistic diversity and cultural exchange.
CUT’s Faculty of Humanities is a central driver for this initiative to train educators in Swahili and develop curriculum materials to support its inclusion in the curriculum.
