CUT FNB Ixias suffocates FNB UP-Tuks during Varsity Cup on home ground

The Central University of Technology, Free Sate (CUT) Ixias used the home-ground advantage to suffocate the University of Pretoria (UP-Tuks), claiming a 41-39 victory against the defending champions on 06 March 2023.
The first half seemed to be back and forth for the tw,o teams where Tuks managed to open the scoreboard with a try by winger Zander Reynders and a conversion by Walter Visser, but this did not slow down the home team after scoring a try by Jandre De Beer which was converted by Tyler Sefoor. Ulrich Stander fought to win the first half for the home team with a try converted by Sefoor but this was not enough. Tuks added two more converted tries to their tally by Ethan Burger and Zenzile, Ambesa leading the first half by 23-16.

The second half of the match seemed bright for FNB CUT Ixias as they surprisingly managed to accumulate two more converted tries by Francois Bester and one by Daniel Venter, which ultimately suffocated the visiting team with a 41-39 score which they tried to recover but could not manage to bypass the leading team.
CUT has moved up to the third position on the fixture log.
