The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) recently reinforced its commitment to internationalisation through a strong presence at the 26th Annual International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA) Conference held at the Radisson Hotel & Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The conference themed ‘Navigating Internationalisation in Challenging Times, brought together global leaders, academics, researchers, and professional from higher education institutions to address the evolving challenges and opportunities in international higher education.

CUT’s active participation reflected its commitment to driving forward internationalisation in a manner that is both resilient and future focused. Several CUT representatives took centre stage, engaging in workshops and presenting on key issues that are at the heart of internationalisation today.

As CUT continues to navigate the intricacies of internationalisation in higher education, it remains steadfast in its mission to foster meaningful collaborations, share best practices, and innovate sustainably. The principles of “green internationalisation” and inclusivity guide these efforts, ensuring that the university’s global engagements are ethical, equitable, and impactful. “Our robust engagement at the IEASA conference highlights the university’s unwavering commitment to internationalisation, even amidst global challenges. Through involvement in these critical discussions, our university continues to shape the future of higher education in South Africa and beyond. The insights and experiences gained at the conference will undoubtedly enrich our future internationalisation strategies, ensuring that the university remains a leader in providing impactful global engagement opportunities for its staff and students,” said Mr Leolyn Jackson, Director: Centre for Global Engagement.

Jackson added that internationalisation of higher education is at the forefront of CUT’s strategic initiatives. “By continuously enhancing the impact of internationalisation in teaching and learning, research, innovation, and engagement, we can position ourselves as a beacon of global academic excellence.
