On the 6^th of July 2016, the then Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Bonginkosi Emmanuel Nzimande, announced in the Government Gazette No: 40123_801 (“Government Notice”) that 31 December 2019 is the last date for enrolling first time entering students into academic programmes that are not aligned with the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (“HEQSF”). 

This Government notice affects all National Diploma (“NDip”) programmes and Baccalaureus Technologiae (“BTech”) degree programmes offered by faculties at the Central University of Technology, Free State (“CUT”).

Based on the above, no first-time entering student will be enrolled into the BTech degree from January 2020 onwards. Students may approach the relevant department for information about the new HEQSF aligned qualifications to pursue after completing a diploma.
