Valu-E Entrepreneurship Experience: Lettie Fouche Visit

On 16 May 2024, the Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) at the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) embarked on a unique journey at the Lettie Fouche School. The school was chosen for a pilot session of the Valu-E Entrepreneurship Experience, a pioneering and one-of-a-kind training programme meticulously designed to ignite the spirit of entrepreneurship among young learners, offering them a unique learning experience.
During the visit, 15 enthusiastic exit-level learners participated in a range of interactive and engaging activities. The session was designed not only to educate them but also to spark a keen interest in entrepreneurship through practical and inclusive learning methods. The activities were well-received, generating a lively and positive response from all the learners.
“The Faculty of Management Sciences is proud to partner with Lettie Fouche School in this pioneering educational initiative. This dynamic partnership is a key component of the university’s outreach programme and renewed efforts toward feeder schools. Our goal is to attract a top-tier intake of first years at the beginning of the year. We look forward to nurturing young entrepreneurial spirits that can contribute positively to our society”, said Prof Albert Strydom, Faculty Dean.
The collaborative spirit of the session was evident as several of Lettie Fouche's educators, including the school's occupational therapist, played an active role in the activities. Their involvement not only helped adapt and align the session's content with the specific needs of the learners but also fostered a sense of inclusivity and community involvement, making the experience both accessible and impactful.
A follow-up visit is eagerly anticipated for June 6, which will provide an invaluable opportunity for the faculty to further gauge the impact of the programme and refine the team’s approach based on the insightful feedback from the initial session. This ongoing engagement underscores the faculty’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial skills among diverse youth communities in our region.
