Face to face with Enactus CUT President- Masego More

Enactus CUT President- Masego More describes herself as a trailblazer navigating the intricate landscapes of engineering and technology. Her unquenchable thirst for knowledge fueled her journey towards becoming a skilled mechanical engineer. This path is marked by her unwavering determination and a drive to merge technical prowess with a creative spark of innovation.
Masego’s drive as she said, was ignited at the age of 14 when she noticed that she was different from other girls her age. As a young girl, she was always fascinated by different automotive models and technology while other girls were fascinated by more feminine stuff. This became the initiation of her venture to study Mechanical Engineering at the Central University of Technology.
A final year student in Bachelor of Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, with two- years’ experience as a student assistant in the innovation developmental hub (IGym), Masego said she has gained professional expertise by climbing up the ladder in the global student organisation of Enactus where she first became a Project Leader, Vice President and now the President.
Embracing the Agricultural Shift with Enactus
She joined Enactus CUT during her first year and she has since moved up the ranks within the organization. “I was fortunate enough to learn about Enactus as a student organisation that embraces innovation. Enactus has opened a new chapter in my life and career journey, taking me beyond conventional boundaries. From the realm of engineering to the vibrant fields of agriculture, this empowering pursuit has propelled me into the world of sustainable farming and agritech innovation. I am proud to have led the organisation reach national championship status and representing South Africa in Puerto Rico. I am also a proud team player and leader of nine student-owned enterprises, some of which are sponsored by big companies such as MTN, Ford Motor Company and Harmony Gold Mining.
Unveiling the unseen, nurturing young minds
While many know Masego for her engineering aspirations, a lesser-known aspect of her journey is her profound connection with young minds. “This trait was rooted in my high school experiences where I discovered my passion for nurturing young talents when I served as an assistant aftercare teacher. This journey has kindled a deep love for children and a strong desire to positively influence their futures.”
Forging leadership through triumph
Masego mentioned that she has embraced her role to lead others from a young age and has done so with pride and honour. “I have been a torchbearer of leadership throughout my high school journey. From grade 9 to grade 11, I proudly held the role of prefect, a responsibility that culminated in my ultimate achievement as head girl in my final year. Each year, I collected trophies and awards, a testament to my unwavering commitment to excellence.”
Igniting a vision and her belief in women in leadership and empowerment
“To me, women in leadership and the empowerment of women are not just concepts; they are the pillars of societal progress. This belief transcends cultural boundaries and resonates on a personal level. The mere thought of limiting aspirations based on gender is unfathomable to me. I'm an ardent advocate for breaking these confines, allowing every woman to embrace her boundless potential. In the intricate tapestry of life, my narrative weaves a tale of courage, passion, and empowerment. With each step, I illuminate a path for others, breaking norms and forging uncharted horizons. My journey is imbued with purpose, where empowerment isn't just a philosophy, but a way of life.”
A spectrum of passion, from engineering to a healthy living
Beyond her academic pursuits, Masego reveals a different facet of herself - an enthusiastic sports lover and a proponent of a balanced, health-conscious lifestyle. “This blend of passion and discipline reflects my belief in nurturing not just my mind but also my holistic well-being. These practices were also birthed in my early school years where I would participate in multiple sporting activities just to keep fit. I’m yet to revive that sports enthusiast in me when I get a chance to partake in different sporting codes on campus.”
