The Honourable Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Mr Itiseng Kenneth Morolong and Mr Bernard Sebake, CUT Dean of Students, share a moment of celebration as they officially unveil the newly digitised CUT FM broadcast studios.

On 02 October 2025, the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA), led by the Honourable Deputy Minister Mr Itiseng Kenneth Morolong, officially unveiled the fully digitised CUT FM broadcast studios. This upgrade is set to enhance production quality and enable the station to deliver even more relevant multilingual content to the university and the Mangaung community, strengthening its role as a development platform for aspiring media and showbiz talents.

CUT FM delivers a dynamic blend of programming, with 60% in English, 30% in Sesotho, and 10% in Afrikaans, captivating its diverse audience through inclusive and vibrant content. Since its inception, the station has evolved into a thriving hub where academic learning meets hands-on media training. It serves as a stepping stone for students pursuing careers in broadcasting, nurturing future professionals through real-world experience. CUT FM’s multiple award nominations and victories stand as a proud testament to its excellence, influence, and obligation to community-driven media.

Mr Morolong, highlighted the significance of the occasion as a reflection of the government’s responsibility to deliver on its promises. He stressed the unique role of radio as a powerful medium that connects people through shared voices and stories. Addressing the volunteers, he encouraged them to speak boldly and responsibly and urged university leadership to continue cultivating an environment where CUT FM can grow and thrive.

“Today, we’re not just here to cut a ribbon or switch on microphones, we’re here to honour a journey. A journey of young people who dared to dream and believed in the power of their voices. This is your moment, and we urge you to use your voice boldly, with care and responsibility. Recognise the weight of this privilege, and use it to build a connected, collaborative community.”

 Mr Bernard Sebake, Dean of Students, expressed gratitude to MDDA for their support and stressed the station's role in fostering societal development and sustainability.

“Radio is a powerful tool for development. It responds to the needs of society and creates sustainability. MDDA has truly put us on the map, and we are deeply grateful for their support. Now, the responsibility lies with us to ensure that we continue using these platforms to educate and empower young people as the future leaders of tomorrow.”
