CUT’s Faculty of Health Environmental Sciences shares their vigorous research work in niche areas and contribution to province with MEC of Health
The offices of the acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Engagement and the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences had the honour and opportunity of hosting MEC for Health, Ms Tsiu, in the context of the faculty’s vigorous research work in various niche areas and its contribution to the province.
Heads of departments and researchers in the faculty had an opportunity to meet and talk with MEC about many innovations that continue to shape the role of the faculty to the university in areas of STEM programmes and research.
In attendance was Prof. Sam Mashele, acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Engagement, Prof. Hesta Friedrich-Nel, acting Dean of the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences and her management team. “We see this interaction and many others to come as an important outlet for MEC Tsiu and the faculty to strengthen the existing bonds of collaboration; most importantly, to reflect from time to time on the progress we are making with regard to our Work-Integrated Learning Initiative,” said Prof. Sam Mashele.
He said that the university is committed to strengthening its relations with the department by promoting wider cooperation in digitisation, production of medical devices through 3D printing technology, and others.
In her remarks, Prof. Hesta Friedrich-Nel said that the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences has been an important faculty of strategic importance in its pursuit to create opportunities for CUT graduates for placement in various training platforms in the province.
