The South African Association of Senior Student Affairs Professionals (SAASSAP) aims to recognise Student Affairs and Services (SAS) professionals – both past and present – who have contributed to the holistic growth and development of students and have played a pivotal role in the advancement of higher education.
Professor Pamela Dube, Vice-Chancellor and Principal was recently recognised by SAASSAP as the most deserving recipient of the 2023 Presidency Lifetime Award for her outstanding career and enormous contributions to higher education in South Africa. The roundtable and awards conference took place on 02 December 2023 at the University of the Free State under the theme ‘The State of our Democracies, Governance Institutions, and Security: The need for Collective Wisdom.
Prof. Dube was awarded for her immense contribution and the role she played in Student Affairs and Services as an academic in Germany, Nepal, and South Africa, and particularly her active and advocacy role when she served as the Dean of Students at the University of Witwatersrand and as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Development and Support at the University of the Western Cape.
