The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT), through its Centre for Global Engagement (CGE), continues to expand its presence in East Africa following a high-level engagement with the Kenyan Education Attaché, Honourable Lucy Musau.

The visit forms part of the university’s internationalisation strategy and has produced key outcomes aimed at strengthening academic collaboration and institutional partnerships in Kenya. Among these is a prospective partnership with Zetech University, particularly within the Faculty of Management Sciences, focusing on entrepreneurship education, innovation, and student development.

This initiative builds on CUT’s existing partnership with Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), formalised in 2025, and reflects a broader strategy to expand collaboration across multiple Kenyan institutions. Discussions also identified opportunities for joint programme development, staff and student mobility, and research collaboration in entrepreneurship and applied sciences.

According to Dr Valindawo Dwayi, Senior Director: Centre for Global Engagement (CGE), the engagement aligns with the university’s vision to grow its footprint across Africa, with Kenya identified as a key strategic partner. “The university aims to strengthen existing relationships while forming new ones that support its focus on entrepreneurship and innovation,” Dwayi highlighted.

The engagement also emphasised the role of the Kenyan High Commission in facilitating partnerships, supporting student recruitment, and enhancing academic ties. Additionally, CUT is exploring ways to increase Kenyan student enrolment through strengthened diplomatic collaboration.

This milestone reflects CUT’s commitment to building sustainable, impactful partnerships across Africa while advancing its position as a leading University of Technology focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, and global engagement.
