CUT Launches First International Teaching Week: “Bridging Worlds: Exploring the Intersections of the Humanities, Technology, and Social Entrepreneurship”
Professor Ntsoaki Malebo, Dean of Health Sciences and Project Leader, delivering her keynote address, urging participants: “Don’t just listen, learn.”
Entrepreneurship has become a key driver of economic growth and innovation in the 21st century. The Global South has demonstrated unique and resourceful approaches to business creation, adaptation, and sustainability. With the rise of digital transformation, global interconnectedness, and the need for innovative solutions to socio-economic challenges, universities play a crucial role in nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets. CUT recognises this imperative and, as part of its commitment to academic excellence and innovation, is hosting its Inaugural International Teaching Week 2025.
The International Teaching Week, under the theme “Bridging Worlds: Exploring the Intersections of the Humanities, Technology, and Social Entrepreneurship”, is designed to enhance internationalisation at CUT by promoting academic and industry partnerships. The program highlightes adaptive business models, digital innovation, and sustainable development practices that have emerged in response to regional challenges. The week provides a platform for dialogue, experience-sharing, and engagement with contemporary entrepreneurial trends.

Professor Ntsoaki Malebo, Dean of Health Sciences and Project Leader, underscored the importance of collective effort, quoting an African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” She highlighted that International Teaching Week allows students and academics to share perspectives, exchange ideas, and tackle challenges collectively, demonstrating the value of diverse approaches to complex issues.

Prof. Mzikayise Binza, Director of Academic Enterprises and Service, reinforced the focus on entrepreneurship and practical learning, encouraging students to actively participate, engage with ideas, and develop skills that will allow them to thrive in both local and global markets. He emphasised that the program prepares them for innovation, applied experiences, and leadership roles. “The International Teaching Week will provide students with direct exposure to global teaching practices, cultural perspectives, and professional development opportunities. It will also enable them to ask questions, explore their passions, and reflect on career paths while engaging with both local and international academics. This initiative embodies our university’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence, inspiring them to explore new ideas and meaningfully shape the future,” said Binza.
