CUT Executive welcomes newly elected SRC
CUT Executive and SRC leadership prepares to kick off the 2026 academic year with a purposeful meet-and-greet, reaffirming their shared dedication to student success and institutional advancement and excellence.
The Central University of Technology’s Executive Management hosted a meet-and-greet session to welcome the newly elected Student Representative Council (SRC), signalling the start of a fresh leadership chapter for the student body. The engagement set the tone for open dialogue, a shared vision, and strengthened collaboration between university executives and student leaders.
Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof. Pamela Dube, congratulated the incoming SRC and highlighted the importance of leadership that makes a lasting impact. “You don’t just want to lead and solve immediate problems but leave no legacy behind. Focus on tangible projects that will mark your term, something future generations will remember as the work of the 2025/2026 SRC,” she said.

Prof. Dube also acknowledged the unique pressures student leaders face, particularly at the beginning of the academic year, encouraging them to prioritise their well-being.
“Please take care of yourselves and don’t forget that you are on the same journey as the students you are assisting.”
She urged the leaders to make full use of campus networks and support systems to enrich their leadership experience, highlighting ongoing partnerships such as those with Higher Health, especially on GBV-related initiatives.
Bloemfontein Campus SRC President Liyabona Nkatshase welcomed the engagement and emphasised the need for its continuity. “This is a great start. I hope that next year we will have even more collaborative engagements. We need ongoing spaces for deliberations, especially on the challenges faced by students.”
Echoing this call for unity, Welkom Campus Deputy President Makoko Tlale emphasised the importance of openness and cross-structure collaboration. “Once we have more platforms for engagement, we will be able to discuss issues and find solutions. Ultimately, we are working toward the same goal of positioning CUT at the forefront.”
Closing the session, Prof. Dube reaffirmed CUT’s commitment to nurturing student leadership. “We need a different type of leadership in this country, and it starts here with you. The exposure you gain in committees will shape you into that kind of leader. Congratulations once more, we look forward to a year defined by collaboration, impactful leadership, and meaningful engagements that advance our university community.”
