CUT and UFS Engage on Shared Higher Education Priorities

CUT and UFS Executive leadership

The Central University of Technology (CUT) and the University of the Free State (UFS) continued to strengthen their strategic relationship during an executive dinner hosted by UFS on Tuesday evening at the Centenary Building.

The dinner brought together executive leadership from both institutions, providing a valuable platform to engage with counterparts, deepen institutional relationships and deliberate on topical matters affecting the higher education sector. The engagement reflected a shared commitment to collaboration, regional development and advancing student success within the Free State and beyond.

Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest and strategic importance, particularly where collaboration between the two universities can enhance student access and success, impact, and long-term sustainability.

Further discussions explored opportunities for provincial collaboration involving all spheres of government, as well as the complexities and opportunities presented by multi-campus institutional contexts. These engagements underscored the importance of coordinated approaches between universities, government and local stakeholders in addressing shared challenges and advancing regional development.

The evening also highlighted the strong collegial spirit between the institutions, with several UFS executives confirming their attendance at the upcoming game on Monday, including UFS Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof. Hester Klopper, reflecting the growing partnership beyond formal engagements.

CUT looks forward to reciprocating the engagement by hosting UFS executives in the next quarter. The visit will provide an opportunity for CUT to showcase its excellence in applied research and industry-aligned training, while further strengthening collaboration between the two institutions.
