CUT management celebrated the university administrative professionals at Secretary Day on 6 September 2023. The day's purpose is to recognise the critical role that secretaries and administrative professionals play in the daily smooth running of operations.
Prof. Pamela Dube, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, said that Secretaries often work behind the scenes to ensure the smooth operation of the university. “I want you always to remember that your role as an administrative professional within CUT is far from mundane. You are the engine and powerhouse behind all the operations. You are the cornerstone of excellence and significance. Your commitment and excellence are the driving force that propels the university towards greater heights.”
Prof. Solomon Makola, Director of Welkom Campus, spoke about excellence. Personal values are the foundation for assimilating organisational values. “The motivational force behind excellence is important because people are motivated by different things; your values are the blueprint of your valuables; it is one thing to have values and another to practice them. I urge you all to set goals, dream big, and never look down on your dreams.”
Ms Martina Moss, Deputy Director: Academic Staff and Student Mobility, said, “greatness does not happen overnight. It results from consistent effort, resilience, and willingness to learn. As we celebrate this day, let us applaud your outstanding contributions and reflect on your journeys. Each of you has a unique story, a journey of growth, determination, and self-belief. Your journey is a statement of human potential's power and should inspire us all.”
