CUT team qualifies for Varsity Netball 2026
CUT Netball Team secured 8th place overall, earning their spot in the 2026 Varsity Netball Competition.
The Central University of Technology (CUT) Netball team has made history by qualifying for the prestigious Varsity Netball Competition in 2026. This milestone was achieved during their participation in the USSA National Tournament, held at Nelson Mandela University from 30 June to 4 July 2025.
This year marked the team’s debut in the A section of the league, following a remarkable journey of consecutive promotions, from the C section in 2023 to the B section, and then to the A section in 2024. Competing among South Africa’s top university teams, the team is now setting its sights on the Varsity Netball 2026 to improve its ranking and make an even bigger impact on the competition.
Their determination and teamwork paid off as they finished in 8th place overall, earning their qualification.
“We are immensely proud of the team’s dedication, resilience, and growth. Their achievement is a testament to the strength of CUT's sports development and the spirit of excellence that drives our student athletes,” said Ms Shela Molekwa, Manager: Operational Sport.
