CUT’s Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning book delivers perspectives on curriculum with implications for higher education teaching

At the launch of the book titled, ‘Perspectives on Curriculum as Praxis Implications for Higher Education Pedagogy’ is editors, Dr Xolani Khohliso, Head: Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at CUT and Prof. Emmanuel Mgqwashu, Director: Centre for Higher Education Professional Development at North-West University (NWU). The book is a contribution envisioned to lead to further doctoral studies, master's qualifications, and even bigger projects.

 

The 10th Annual Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference (SoTL), hosted by the the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) from 3- 5 October 2024, culminated with the launch of a book titled: Perspectives on Curriculum as Praxis Implications for Higher Education Pedagogy.

Edited by Dr Xolani Khohliso, who leads the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at CUT and Prof. Emmanuel Mgqwashu, Director: Centre for Higher Education Professional Development at the North-West University (NWU), the book is not merely an academic book that relates to higher education, but it is also a valuable and insightful contribution to the sector, envisioned to lead to further doctoral studies, master's qualifications, and even bigger projects.

Selected chapters in the book include Chapter 1: Curriculum as praxis in the age of coloniality: Implications for pedagogy; Chapter 2. Multilingualism: An effective learning and teaching strategy to enhance higher education curriculum practice; Chapter 3: Advancing pedagogical transformative voices from the peripheries: The role of critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving in the curriculum; Chapter 5: Rethinking support for university teachers in the context of a decolonising higher education: The role of academic developers; Chapter 8: Female students perspectives on being included in curriculum transformation in higher education and Chapter 9: Research impact doctoral pedagogy.
