A trophy parade for CUT’s Enactus team, the 2022 national champions!

The Enactus CUT team celebrated their Enactus South Africa National Champion title on 30 September 2022 at the Bloemfontein Campus, following their national championship victory on 14 July 2022 at Sandton Convention Centre, Gauteng.

The team revealed their previous year’s trophies for the first time to the CUT community through a trophy parade. Part of the parade is to inspire and recruit a new student to join the Enactus CUT winning team.

Ms Maraka Lefera, Enactus CUT Co-Faculty Advisor, said that the journey has been amazing and full of emotions because it is not only about the growth and exposure of students within the Enactus group, but it is also about the lives of communities that have been touched throughout the journey. “We are currently developing our students to have their own social enterprises and worm farming is the first step towards achieving that goal. So far, we have registered three students’ companies that will be running worm farming as their own enterprise,” she said.

Outgoing Enactus CUT President, Yanelisa Giyose said “we are regarded as the underdogs, and this is our first win as National Champions. Showcasing our trophies on campus is a way of showing people that our university is recognised at a national level. Another thought behind this parade is to encourage more students to join and participate in Enactus activities, as well as inculcate the culture of entrepreneurship among the CUT student population.”
