Safety Tips

  • Students should call Protection Services toll-free numbers indicating their arrival at the bus terminal or taxi rank, and the type of the vehicle he/she is about to use.
  • All students who arrive late at their bus terminals must use appropriate maxi taxis that are stationed at the bus terminal/taxi ranks.
  • Students should note the distinguishable marks of the maxi taxi that they are using, e.g. Make, model, colour, registration number.
  • Before getting into a taxi, students should take a full picture of the vehicle and send it to his/her friends or next of kin.
  • Students should note the distinguishing marks of the driver, such as facial appearance, bearded, moustache, language and/or accent, clothing.

  • Students should avoid talking to suspicious individuals, such as someone offering to help without being asked. If your instincts tell you something is wrong, it is most probably wrong.
  • If possible, students should together try to use the same taxi and never be allowed to be separated into different taxis when they arrive at the bus terminal/taxi rank.
  • While in transit between taxi rank/bus terminal, student should call/text next of kin/friends to assure them of her/his safety.
  • While is transit, students should be observant of their surroundings, things such as type of business /buildings they are driving past, e.g., Stadiums, Malls, shopping canters, KFC, Liquor/Food outlet, name of the road/street, etc. as this information might be valuable in case something unfortunate happens.
  • Students must be aware of criminal activities that target students during these busy times and students are encouraged to walk in groups.
  • In line with the earlier paragraph, any spotted criminal activities must be reported to the Police and the Campus Protection Services of CUT.
  • All students are requested to seek help from security and/or dedicated officials of CUT including SRC’s; House Committees at CUT respective campuses.
