Stay Informed, Stay Accountable: Empower Yourself with the Right Knowledge!
The Legal Services Unit within the institution is a cornerstone of support, dedicated to ensuring that all institutional practices comply with legal standards and uphold ethical principles. This Unit provides essential legal counsel, assisting in interpreting policies, managing risks, and overseeing compliance. By offering a reliable source of legal guidance, the Legal Services Unit promotes a fair and accountable environment, enabling the institution to operate effectively within the bounds of the law.
Among other things, the unit is crucial in handling disciplinary matters, guiding students through fair processes in cases of alleged misconduct, and ensuring they understand the potential repercussions of their actions. By promoting policy awareness, the Unit helps cultivate a campus culture of integrity, where students are encouraged to make responsible choices. This support and education help students understand the importance of adhering to rules, contributing to a positive campus environment and reducing the likelihood of disciplinary issues.
Is it necessary to discipline students?
CUT disciplines students to maintain a safe and respectful environment and to uphold academic integrity. Discipline helps enforce community standards, fosters personal responsibility, and promotes a culture of accountability.
Where can students find the disciplinary rules?
Students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the rules and procedures pertaining to examinations, test and general conduct. These rules are contained in the CUT Calendar (current year 2024 specifically Chapter 4 and 13).
Below are examples of cases which were reported following academic dishonesty misconduct and disciplinary hearings were conducted which led to a decision referred to as the sanction.
Academic misconducts are those incidents which take place within the assessment venue and the general misconduct takes place outside the assessment venue.
