Notice of direct payments: NSFAS funded students and landlords

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has informed the Central University of Technology that as of 01 June 2023, NSFAS will be discharging the payment of student allowances. The meals, transport and learning materials (books) allowances will be paid directly to the students and rental allowances will be paid directly to the landlords.

NB: Section 5.2.1 of the NSFAS Eligibility Criteria and conditions for financial aid for the 2023 academic year stipulates that allowances for students will be paid directly into the students NSFAS approved bank account. Furthermore section 7.3 allows institutions to continue to pay allowances to students and also indicates that NSFAS will give at least 3 months’ notice to institutions where it intends to take over full control of payment of allowances.

On-boarding channels and any updates on the processes will be communicated once received from NSFAS.
