PORTFOLIO | Prof. Swart primarily focuses on Engineering Education Development where he advocates the use of educational technologies to promote student engagement. A second branch of his research in the field of Electrical Engineering relates to energy monitoring of solar panels. Two of his recent journal articles focused on enhancing student engagement by using all the pillars in a Learning Management System and by designing activities that can help students to demonstrate the acquisition of graduate attributes. Two other articles were related to quantifying the amount of output power lost when a solar panel is shaded and to identifying key differences between profiles of academics listed on Research Gate and Google Scholar, which forms part of the field of Informetrics. Prof. Swart is also a mentor for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning where he delights to work with fellow colleagues in reporting on their teaching practice in the public domain. |
