Deputy Director: Alumni Affairs
PORTFOLIOJacqueline Pietersen is a seasoned professional in the SA higher education sector with a focus on alumni engagement and student development. At the University of Pretoria (UP) she played a pivotal role in fostering connections between the students and the university alumni community.  She initiated the Young Alumni and Student Committee (YASCOM) at UP, which aimed to instil a culture of philanthropy among students and graduates. Her efforts included organising fundraising activities and encouraging student participation in charitable projects, thereby strengthening the university’s community engagement.
She currently serves as the Deputy Director: Alumni Affairs at the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT). In this role, she is instrumental in fostering relationships between the university and its alumni, overseeing initiatives that enhance alumni engagement and support. She is a passionate advocate for women’s issues and played a pivotal role in initiating the highly successful annual CUT Alumnae “Women in the Workplace” event, which addresses challenges faced by women in professional environments and promotes empowerment and leadership. She also co-authored a study titled “Women Leaders in a South African Higher Education Institution: Narrations of Their Leadership Operations”, which examines the experiences of female leaders in academia.
