Prof. Oke is a NRF rated researcher and a current recipient of the Future Professor Program (FPP), a flagship DHET program hosted by the University of Johannesburg for selected academia across South African Universities with a prospect of shaping the future.
He won the University Vice Chancellor’s Research Award for Early and Mid-Career Researcher at Central University of Technology. Prof Okes’s research activities include guest editor for the journal Frontiers in Water. He gave 6 invited keynote presentations at scientific conferences and technical workshop on water and environment-related topics. In 2022, he was an invited reviewer for NRF Rating, Post-PhD and Thuthuka funding applications.
Prof. Oke’s current engagement are in 3 research projects with the Water Research Commission, National Research Foundation and Belt and Road Initiative project in collaboration with the Zhejiang Normal University of China. From 2020 -2023, he led the Mangaung Municipality team on the project Airport Development Node, a World Bank City Resilience Program for Metro’s in South Africa. He has supervised to completion 5 doctoral students and 15 master’s students. He has externally examined 14 dissertations and thesis in water related topics across the African continent.
