On 22 October 2024, the Central University of Technology (CUT) proudly hosted a prestigious induction ceremony in collaboration with Golden Key Southern Africa, where a select few were welcomed into the esteemed Golden Key International Honour Society. As the world’s largest international collegiate society for high-achieving undergraduate and post graduate students, Golden Key is recognised for its focus on academic excellence, leadership, and service. With solid relationships across 400 universities globally, the society offers a range of opportunities, including scholarships, travel, and study abroad programs, to its members who qualify by ranking in the top 15% of their class.

The ceremony marked a significant moment for the newly inducted members, who have demonstrated excellence in their academic pursuits. Ms Gillian Cloete, Regional Director of Golden Key Southern Africa, expressed her pride in welcoming the new members and spoke of the immense opportunities that awaits them. She emphasised that this moment is an achievement and the beginning of a journey toward greatness.

“Being part of this society opens doors to connecting with like-minded individuals with the same passion for success. I encourage you to equip yourselves with the tools you need to excel, seek mentors, take on leadership roles, and embrace challenges,” said Cloete.

She advised students to approach the future with courage and enthusiasm, reminding them that the only limits they face are those they place on themselves. "I do not doubt that each of you has the potential to achieve great things and leave a lasting impact on the world."

Prof. Pamela Dube, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, delivered an inspiring address to the inductees, welcoming them into the prestigious global society. She mentioned that the Chapter welcomed 349 members in its inaugural year and is now standing at 473 with 124 new members.  “In 2023, our university proudly launched its own Golden Key chapter, marking a new era in the recognition of academic achievement. We are proud of what you have achieved, but also be mindful of the responsibility that comes with it. Let your achievements inspire you to continue striving for excellence, and let your actions inspire others to do the same”, she said.
