CUT’s phenomenal woman Lerato Mogotsi among the Mrs SA top 50 semi-finalists

Mrs South Africa is a journey that has gained the reputation of Women-Empowerment Program and prides itself in producing the very best in real, relatable, and modern South African women. The program celebrates marriage and the essence of being a bona fide woman.

This program was created for married women who would ordinarily not have such a platform to compete and be ambassadors for South Africa on a global scale. The opportunities and platform that have been created for Mrs South Africa entrants are significant in every way and truly creates a ripple effect across the country. Through the journey, women find themselves again and learn that they are never too old to follow their dreams and become voices of change.

In this women’s month, the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) congratulates and celebrate one of its own, Mrs Lerato Mogotsi, for making it to the top 50 Mrs South Africa semi-finalists. Lerato is a Senior Lab Technician: Natural Sciences, in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in the Faculty of Humanities and is currently pursuing her PhD studies in Environmental Health.

Asked about her goals and aspirations, Lerato expressed her appreciation and excitement for being nominated and recognised in such a prestigious event. She also mentioned that her wish is to add value towards improving the quality of education in South Africa through her skills, experiences, and knowledge. “I am very honoured to be part of this journey, although it was not easy, it was worth it! I have grown in many ways, and my confidence levels are higher than before. In this journey, I have learnt to communicate without fear and what humbled me most is that I was recognised by other phenomenal women who also aspire to live their dreams. I would like to use my skills and experiences to impact on the lives of learners in underprivileged schools through science,” she said.

Her advice to married women is to be the best version of themselves and always follow their dreams.

The Mrs South Africa brand showcases the virtues of South Africa, the spirit of Ubuntu, and the real relatable women of the country. The pageant also aims to celebrate all women in their unique femininity and share true South African stories to empower and uncover the true beauty that shines from within.  CUT also believes in empowering women to flourish and become the best version of themselves, and this achievement has not only made CUT proud but Free State as a whole.

The Top 50 judging round and process was conducted via various online methods and audited by BDO South Africa. The Mrs SA official judges were Tatum Keshwar, Matapa Maila and Nicole Capper.

The new Mrs South Africa will be announced in February 2021.
