The Central University of Technology (CUT) participated in the 2025 Annual Sports Career Exhibition hosted at Kgati Ya Moshate Secondary School in Mahwelereng. The event was designed to support Grade 11 and 12 learners in making informed subject and career choices, while encouraging a balance between academic excellence and sports development.

Ms Mmphefo Daphney Mofya, Director of Mogalakwena Sports & Skills Training, extended her gratitude to all stakeholders for the opportunity afforded to learners. “We are truly grateful to everyone who made this day possible. A special thank you to the Central University of Technology for honouring the invitation. Your presence here is a powerful sign of your commitment to our youth.”  She expressed how events like these bring learners closer to institutions of higher learning and open their minds to new possibilities.

Mr Thamaga Moribula Phillemon, Principal of Kgati ya Moshate Secondary School, expressed deep appreciation for CUT’s involvement “my heart is filled with joy to see CUT here today. This is the first time many of us are hearing about the institution. Coming from rural areas, we were not exposed to such opportunities before. CUT’s presence at our school brings hope to our learners that their dreams are valid and within reach.” He applauded the university representation for encouraging and motivating learners, expressing pride in how dedicated and committed his learners are in their studies.

Nkakabidi Secondary School stood out by winning both the soccer and netball finals, earning medals and a trophy for their outstanding performance.

The event brought together learners from various surrounding schools, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity and healthy competition. Nkakabidi Secondary School stood out by winning both the soccer and netball finals, earning medals and a trophy for their outstanding performance, while the host school, Kgati ya Moshate Secondary School, proudly reached the finals in both sporting codes, demonstrating strong team spirit and unity.

CUT made a meaningful impact through its contributions. The team provided real-time application assistance to learners who are interested in pursuing higher education, making the application process less intimidating and more accessible. In addition, full sports kits were donated to the school’s soccer and netball teams, reinforcing CUT’s commitment to supporting both academic and extracurricular excellence.

The event highlighted the power of outreach, and the role that universities play in transforming lives beyond the city borders. For CUT, this was more than a just visit, it was a step towards building lasting relationships, inspiring future graduates, and showing that education truly has no limits.
