Understanding Your Application Status

Checking your application status can be confusing. To help you understand exactly where your application stands, we have translated our internal status codes into plain language.

Find your status code below to see what it means and what action, if any, you need to take next.


Accepted or Provisionally Accepted

Congratulations! Your application has been successful, subject to meeting any stated conditions.

Code: G, A, or PA

Admitted to Programme

Next Step: Proceed with the official registration process. (G = New students, A = Returning students, PA = Postgraduate).

Code: Q or T

Provisionally Accepted

Next Step: You must meet the final conditions (e.g., submitting final Grade 12 results). International students (T) must also ensure their study permit, passport, and medical aid are in order.

Code: H

Admitted via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Next Step: Proceed with the official registration process.

Code: 5 or 8

Selected for ECP or PGCE

Next Step: You have been selected for the Extended Curriculum Programme (Foundation) or the Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Proceed with registration.


Pending, Waitlisted, or Requires Your Action

Your application is still being processed, or we need you to do something before we can make a final decision.

Code: AR, D, N, or EP

Application Received / Processing

Next Step: No action needed yet. Your application is being reviewed (EP means it is with the Head of Department). Please be patient.

Code: OD or DU

Document Issues

Next Step: OD: Log in and upload your missing documents immediately. DU: You have uploaded them, and we are now reviewing your application.

Code: B or VP

Foreign Qualification Verification

Next Step: B: You must obtain a SAQA evaluation certificate at www.saqa.org.za. VP: We are currently verifying your foreign qualification.

Code: W

Waitlisted

Next Step: You are on a waiting list. We will contact you immediately if a space becomes available in your chosen programme.

Code: DE

Application Deferred

Next Step: Your application will be automatically re-evaluated once your final Grade 12 results are released.

Code: E

Conditionally Accepted (Postgrad)

Next Step: You must successfully complete your pending prerequisite qualification before final acceptance is granted.


Testing or Interview Required

Your academic marks meet the requirements, but you must complete an additional selection step.

Code: I or L

Selection Test Required

Next Step: You must book and attend a selection test. Code I also requires an interview. Book your slot at www.cut.ac.za/selectiontests/

Code: PE

Portfolio of Evidence Required

Next Step: Applies to Design and Studio Art programmes. Submit your portfolio as instructed by the faculty.

Code: PT, SI, or TI

Hospitality or Tourism Pre-selection

Next Step: You have been shortlisted for an interview and/or testing. Await further communication from the faculty regarding dates and times.

Code: TE

Awaiting Teaching Experience Proof

Next Step: Email proof of your Higher Education teaching experience directly to Mrs Edem at aedem@cut.ac.za.


Unsuccessful or Not Selected

Unfortunately, your application for this specific programme was not successful at this time. Please review the reason below.

  • Code X: Unsuccessful due to insufficient academic marks. You do not meet the minimum entry requirements.
  • Code K: Not selected because you are missing the required prerequisite high school subjects for this programme.
  • Code P: Not selected after the final review and selection process.
  • Code PF: The programme is currently full and has reached capacity. Please consider an alternative choice.
  • Code IE or NL: Ineligible for this programme, or your previous qualification does not meet the PGCE entry requirements.
  • Code HX: Unfortunately, your application for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) was not successful.
  • Code 2C or Z: Not selected for your 1st choice, but your application is now being considered for your 2nd/alternative choice.
  • Code C or AW: Application Cancelled or Withdrawn. (AW means you did not register last year, so you must submit a brand new application for the upcoming academic year).
