  • Employment & Labour Relations: Employment Relations Specialists, Labour Relations Officers, and Industrial Relations Consultants, applying specialised expertise in Labour Law I and Industrial Relations I & II to navigate complex workplace legislation, dispute resolution, and collective bargaining.
  • Human Resources Development (HRD) & Training: HRD Practitioners, Training Managers, and Learning & Development Coordinators, leveraging practical skills from Management of Training I & II to design, implement, and evaluate employee skills development programmes and organisational learning strategies.
  • HR Systems & Analytics: HR Systems Analysts and HR Data Specialists, integrating technical competencies from Human Resources Information Systems, Quantitative Techniques, and Accounting for Human Resources Practitioners to manage HR data, payroll systems, and workforce analytics.

Programme-Specific Requirements

Minimum Qualification

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent qualification.

Required Subjects & Pass Levels

  • English: Minimum 50% (Level 4) at Grade 12 level.
  • CUT Scoring Scale (APS): Minimum 27 points

Understanding Your Matric Pass Level

To help you understand your eligibility, here is a quick guide to the National Senior Certificate (NSC) pass levels. This programme requires a Diploma Pass.

Diploma Pass (Required)

Pass 6 of 7 subjects. Four subjects must be at least 40% (Level 3), including Home Language (40%). Language of Learning and Teaching (LOLT) must be at least 30%. You may fail one subject. This allows enrolment for a diploma course at a university of technology.

Bachelor’s Pass

Pass 6 of 7 subjects. Four subjects must be at least 50% (Level 4), including Home Language (40%). LOLT must be at least 30%. You may fail one subject. This allows application for a degree course.

Certificate Pass

Pass 6 of 7 subjects. Two subjects above 40%, four subjects above 30%, including Home Language (40%). You may fail one subject. This allows study for a higher certificate.


Selection Process & Programme Regulations

Selection Process & Progression

  • Selection Test: Candidates with 27 or more points on the CUT scoring scale are eligible for admission. Candidates scoring between 22 and 26 points may be required to write a selection test.
  • NCV Applicants: Applicants in possession of a National Certificate Vocational (NCV) will be evaluated according to the specific selection requirements approved by Senate.
  • Study Mode: This learning programme is presented during the day only.
  • Non-Carry-Forward Modules: The following modules must be successfully completed before progression to the second academic year and may not be carried forward:
    • Academic Literacy and Communication Studies (LCS5011 and LCS5012)
    • Basic Digital Literacy (DLC5011)
    • Mathematics for Business (MFB122)
    • Personal Information Management (PIM5011 and PIM5012)
  • Work-Integrated Learning (WIL): Students are required to conduct practical work at a business as part of the final mark in certain instructional offerings. Only students who have successfully completed all second-year level modules will be allowed to proceed to WIL.
  • Graduation Requirements: Successful completion of this qualification requires the successful completion of all compulsory modules, including the Academic Literacy and Communication Studies programme and Personal Information Management.
