Minimum Qualification

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with endorsement for a Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification. A minimum of 30 points on the CUT scoring scale is required (applicants with 35+ may qualify for direct admission, while those with 30–34 may be referred for psychometric evaluation).

Required Subjects & Pass Levels

• Life Sciences: Minimum 50% (Level 4)
• Physical Sciences: Minimum 50% (Level 4)
• Mathematics: Minimum 50% (Level 4) (Mathematical Literacy is NOT accepted)
• English: Minimum 50% (Level 4)
• Life Orientation: Minimum 40% (Level 3)

Note for candidates who matriculated in 2007 or before: Please refer to the official CUT Student Calendar for the specific Senior Certificate (SC) scoring scale and admission requirements applicable to your qualification.

Selection Process

Due to limited capacity and programme-specific requirements, all applicants are subject to a formal selection process. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee automatic admission.

Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) Option

If you are a First-Time Entering (FTE) student and narrowly miss the mainstream requirements, you may be considered for the ECP stream if you meet one of the following:

• You achieved one level below the required mark in only one prerequisite subject (e.g., 40% instead of 50% in Life Sciences).
• OR you meet all subject requirements but achieved one level below the required APS (M-score).

* Note: Students in the ECP may not change to the regular programme and must complete the ECP in full.
