  • Teaching & Technical Instruction: Senior Phase Technology Teacher, FET College Technology Lecturer (specialising in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Technology, or Engineering Graphics and Design), and Private Technical Tutor.
  • Curriculum & Educational Resource Development: Technology Curriculum Developer, Technical Educational Content Designer, and Practical Learning Resource Creator.
  • Educational Leadership & Administration: Head of Department (Technology/Technical Subjects), District Technical Subject Advisor, and STEM/Technical Programme Coordinator.
  • Industry & Artisan Development: Technical Skills Trainer, Artisan Development Facilitator, and Technical Skills Assessor/Moderator.
  • Further Academic Study: Graduates may pursue Honours, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in Education or Technology Education, opening pathways to university lecturing and educational research.

Minimum Qualification

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with endorsement for admission to a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification.

Required Subjects & Pass Levels

  • Mathematics OR Technical Mathematics: Minimum 50% (Level 4)
  • AND Physical Sciences OR Technical Physical Science: Minimum 50% (Level 4)
  • Note: A pass in Engineering Graphics and Design is highly recommended.

Understanding Your Matric Pass Level

To help you understand your eligibility, here is a quick guide to the National Senior Certificate (NSC) pass levels. This programme requires a Bachelor’s Pass.

Bachelor’s Pass (Required)

Pass 6 of 7 subjects. Four subjects must be at least 50% (Level 4), including Home Language (40%). LOLT must be at least 30%. You may fail one subject. This allows application for a degree course.

Diploma Pass

Pass 6 of 7 subjects. Four subjects must be at least 40% (Level 3), including Home Language (40%). LOLT must be at least 30%. You may fail one subject. This allows enrolment for a diploma course.

Certificate Pass

Pass 6 of 7 subjects. Two subjects above 40%, four subjects above 30%, including Home Language (40%). You may fail one subject. This allows study for a higher certificate.


Selection Process & Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP)

Selection Process

Admission is strictly based on meeting the minimum National Senior Certificate (NSC) subject requirements and achieving the required Bachelor's Pass endorsement. No separate selection test is required for this programme.

Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) Option

Please note: The Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) option is not available for this Bachelor's degree. ECP streams in this faculty are currently only offered for specific diploma programmes.
