CUT Supplemental Instruction Leaders lauded for dedicating their time to others
The Central University of Technology recently celebrated the Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders at an award ceremony held in honour of the student leaders appointed as SI leaders, in celebration of their hard work and commitment to making a difference in another student's life.
Supplemental Instruction leaders are recommended by their lecturers to the Student Support (Centre for Innovation Teaching and Learning) and they assist students who are struggling with at-risk modules that the institution identifies. The leaders are flexible and can assist students with practically explaining certain concepts in their languages during the sessions.
Thanking the students for dedicating their time to others, Dr Ntsoaki Malebo, Senior Director: Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching said: “You have demonstrated your ability to put others first and have had a positive impact while serving our your fellow students with dedication. I know it was not easy at times, but you continued to show up, and for that, I salute you. It truly takes a selfless person to think about others, especially when you are also focused on your education. Thank you for showing up for others.”
Taking part in the SI programme equips students with developing leadership and interpersonal communication skills; reinforcing and building on their knowledge of course content. The programme also helps them develop career competencies that prepare them for a successful transition into their future workplace.
