Young innovators showcase their talent at CUT during the National Science Week
The Minister of Science and Innovation, Prof. Blade Nzimande, launched National Science Week (NSW) 2024 at the Central University of Technology on 28 September 2024 under the theme, "Living in a high-tech world: should we be concerned?".
A notable highlight of the event was the recognition of Munei Netsharotha, a Grade 12 learner from Limpopo, who created a hydrogen-fuelled vehicle. His innovation aligns with national priorities in advancing the hydrogen economy, showcasing the potential of young scientists.
In his comments, Prof. Blade Nzimande, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation encouraged the youth to pursue their careers in science and take the lead in shaping the future of the country. “As we mark National Science Week 2024, I encourage the youth to pursue academic paths in mathematics and science with dedication and resolve. These fields shape South Africa’s future, with TVET colleges providing essential skills to drive innovation,” he said.
