X-ray eXperts share their superpower at national seminar
X-ray vision like comic super hero Superman, is most probably one of the most coveted superpowers in the world; and although diagnostic radiographers utilize imaging technology and other technological advances - to some extent they have this power.

Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) hosted a national seminar for diagnostic and therapy radiographers from across South Africa on 13 and 14 September 2013. “Radiographers are at the heart of modern medicine. The field is unmistakable key in diagnosing patients.” stated Prof. Hesta Friedrich-Nel, Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences. X-rays, ultrasound, angiography, MRI(magnetic resonance imaging), CT (computed tomography) and fluoroscopy (providing a live motion x-ray) used to examine patients, are the modern day medicine’s best answer to a superpower, technology have become superior and so has the diagnostic and therapy options.

The seminar opened the floor to radiographers to discuss current ethical issues, new technological developments, innovative managerial solutions and the latest research in the field. As from 2014 CUT will present a brand new programme, the Bachelor of Radiography in Diagnostics http://www.cut.ac.za/faculty_pages/bachelor-of-radiography-in-diagnostics/.  There are  numerous career opportunities for radiographers, as professionally trained healthcare workers, who form part of the healthcare team and work in either a private radiology practice or the government sector. Radiographers can also find a great number of employment options as application specialists, representatives at companies supplying imaging and treatment products or pursue an academic or research career.
