CUT welcomes Mr Relibile Mofokeng as new Director of Protection Services

The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Relibile Mofokeng as Director of the Protection Services Unit, effective 03 November 2025. Mr Mofokeng brings over 20 years of experience in security and risk management, along with a wealth of knowledge and deep commitment to safeguarding people, assets, and critical infrastructure.

As CUT works towards implementing the envisioned 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, the Resources and Operations (ResOps) Division has embarked on a focused turnaround strategy aimed at strengthening operational excellence and institutional efficiency. Through deliberate adjustments and renewed attention to process improvement, ResOps is repositioning itself as a strategic enabler and trusted partner in advancing the University’s mission and long-term sustainability.

As the division transforms, Mr Mofokeng’s appointment aligns closely with this strategic direction. He has extensive experience leading diverse teams across the public and private sectors and has implemented comprehensive risk management and mitigation strategies with measurable impact. He holds a master’s degree in management with a focus on security and has built a distinguished career centred on innovative, information-driven approaches to protection.

Throughout his career, he has been at the forefront of some of the most challenging security issues, from coordinating complex operations to combat rhino poaching, striking a careful balance between conservation and security. He has also led initiatives that have effectively reduced cable theft through strategic planning and community involvement.

A passionate advocate for modern security technologies, Mr Mofokeng has played a key role in integrating cutting-edge systems to enhance surveillance, access control, and incident response. His philosophy centres on combining people, processes, and technology to create security frameworks that are both robust and adaptable.

“I believe that true leadership is about empowering others. Through mentorship, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence, I strive to build teams that are confident and capable. As I join the Central University of Technology, I look forward to using my experience to strengthen the Protection Services and create a safe, resilient environment that supports the university’s mission and goals,” said Mr Mofokeng.

CUT looks forward to the positive impact he will bring to our university community.
