VC Communique: Main Assessments Nov 2016
Dear Students On behalf of Management and all CUT staff, we would like to wish you all strength and wisdom for the main assessment period that commences on Monday, 7 November 2016.

Please use this opportunity to ensure success in your studies in order to secure a bright future for you. Management has made every effort to ensure that students complete their final assessments. All reasonable security measures will be in place at both campuses to ensure a smooth assessment process, and to secure the safety of students, staff and property. During the past seven weeks, we allowed our students to continue with their national course for free education for all. As mentioned in my communiqué of 31 October 2016, Management has either addressed, or are in the process of addressing, most of the students’ CUT-related demands. Therefore, student protests will not be allowed during the main assessment and re-assessment periods. Management noted that some students are still attempting to be obstructive. Please note that there will be zero tolerance for any disruption of any activity on campus during the assessment periods. Any student who makes him-/herself guilty of such unacceptable behaviour will face legal and disciplinary action, and will forfeit the opportunity to participate in the assessments. In conclusion, remember the words of the late President Nelson Mandela:

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.

Make optimal use of this opportunity!

Best wishes
Prof. Henk de Jager Acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal
